Cherokee County Planning Commission Turns Down Macauley Project

In a vote of 5-4 the Cherokee County Planning Commission rejected the large subdivision, A Village In The Forest, that developer Stephen Macauley has planned to develop in Canton.
Even though the developer plans to donate land for 6 new schools and a water treatment system, Commission Chairman, Rob Cutting said of the proposed 12,000 home mixed use development, “It’s a generous contribution, but I find it deficientâ€. In an earlier report the Atlanta Regional Commission praised the project, but gave some stipulations of reducing the number of homes from 12,000 to 8,000.
The developer still hopes that the Cherokee Board of Commissioners feels differently about his project on December 19th as the board meets for the last time before the new Chairman starts office.

I think that is an excellence idea for Mr. Macauley to develop a subdivision in Canton. He is willing to donate land for six new school where the population of children has risen and I am sure that the school are needed.
That is a blessing from “God” and should not be turn down by man because of what he think is deficient, but what will benefit the community.
I wish that I had someone to donate land to my foundation for a project that I would liket to do in Bainbridge Decatur County Georgia for kids who have no place to call their own and parent who are living in broke down houses where snakes and other animal live as well.
It hurt my heart to know that progress for the community is being stop because of one man view instead of a whole community.
I am a grandparent that is raising three of my grandchildren in rural Florida and is starting The Lewis Foundation to help kids in rural are of Florida and Georgia, who have been left behind by their parents and living on their grandparent with no place to call their own or no place to go and burn off energy.
Mr. Macauley, I commend you on wanting tobuild more home in Canton.
